Belgium Tariff Rates 2026: 15% on US Imports
As of 2026-07-24, US imports from Belgium carry an effective tariff of about 15%. This is the 15% all-inclusive ceiling under the EU-US trade deal, effective July 1, 2026 โ it replaced the 10% Section 122 rate and does not stack: goods with an MFN rate of 15% or more pay MFN only, with Section 232 metals tariffs of 50% on steel and 50% on aluminum charged separately (metals sit outside the 15% ceiling). Autos from Belgium are now 15% (down from 27.5%), and pharmaceuticals and semiconductors are capped at 15%. The rate fell from 20% after the Supreme Court struck down the IEEPA tariffs in February 2026, so importers who paid the higher rate between April 2025 and February 2026 may qualify for refunds. The earlier 10% Section 122 tariff (in effect Feb 24 โ June 30, 2026 for EU goods) no longer applies to EU-origin goods โ it was superseded by the EU-US deal on July 1, 2026, and nationwide it expired at its 150-day limit on July 24, 2026.

Belgium Import Tariff Overview
Belgium is an EU member, so it falls under the US-EU trade deal effective July 1, 2026: a 15% all-inclusive ceiling on most Belgian-origin goods, with no stacking (goods with MFN of 15% or more pay MFN only). Steel and aluminum remain at 50% Section 232 outside the ceiling.
Belgium has no separate bilateral FTA โ EU trade policy governs its access under the July 2026 US-EU agreement. Belgium is a major European chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and cut-diamond hub, and the Port of Antwerp is one of the continent's largest gateways for US-bound trade.
Key Products Imported from Belgium
Leading imports include pharmaceuticals and vaccines, organic chemicals, cut diamonds and gemstones, industrial machinery, vehicles, and plastics.
Recent Changes
The US-EU deal took effect July 1, 2026, capping most Belgian goods at 15% all-inclusive and replacing the 10% Section 122 rate (which expired July 24, 2026 for non-EU countries). Pharmaceuticals are capped at 15% under the deal, IEEPA reciprocal tariffs were struck down by SCOTUS (refund pool being paid), and the $800 de minimis exemption is eliminated.
Tips for Importers
Pharmaceuticals and chemicals top out at the 15% all-inclusive ceiling โ but where a product's MFN rate is already 15% or higher, it pays MFN only with no top-up, so check the base rate first. Cut diamonds are largely 0% MFN, so they pay up to the 15% ceiling; confirm classification. Recover any IEEPA overpayments from before Feb 20, 2026 via CAPE.
How Are US Tariffs on Belgium Imports Calculated?
US import duties on goods from Belgium are determined by multiple overlapping tariff authorities. The base layer is the EU-US trade dealโs 15% all-inclusive ceiling, effective July 1, 2026, which replaced the 10% Section 122 rate for EU members. It does not stack: goods with an MFN rate of 15% or higher pay MFN only, while lower-MFN goods pay 15% total. Autos are 15% (down from 27.5%), and pharmaceuticals and semiconductors are capped at 15%. Section 232 tariffs of 50% on steel and 50% on aluminum apply to metals imports, outside the EU deal's 15% ceiling.

Already importing from Belgium? If you paid the higher pre-SCOTUS IEEPA rate in 2025, you may be able to claim an IEEPA tariff refund. And if you re-export or manufacture with imported goods, duty drawback can recover up to 99% of the duties you paid โ both are separate from the rates above.
